CAPTIVE

I‘m here in darkness,

and despair.

How do I get out of here?

I hear voices,

 everywhere,

taunting,

haunting,

torturing me.

I see people,

they’re e v e r y w h e r e.

Some are dying,

cry  i n g,

hurt  ing,

plead  ing

 help,

help us p l e a s e?

These four walls

are

      crumbling

                       crashing

Who’ll come rescue me?

Rescue me

from agony?

I’m lonely,

in solitude

who’ll come

and

whisper my name?

I’m weak feeling weary,

worn can’t fight.

Who fight the enemy?

Wait,I can see

glimmers of light,

but, darkness

overshadows me.

Wait,

I can see

glimmers of hope,

but, hope

seems far

will I ever get

out of here?

Wait,

I see light,

hope’s here too,

hope assures

if I can see

beyond darkness,

despair,

LIGHT is here

to show the way

then,

I’ll be free

from

captivity

    1. Sadly, this is an every day reality of some. For them, their dark world always seek Light, sometimes light does not seem near…. Thanks Pamela for taking time to read and respond. I’m happy to hear my write accomplish that effectiveness intended.

  1. I absolutely LOVE the visual formatting to add drama to the text!!! Intense, provocative, emtional, with a visual and verbal drama, gripping me…

    And then the resolution… wow!!

I feel like I just lived through the tale of Pandora’s Box!

Bravo! BRAVO! *standing and applauding sincerely* 🙂

    1. Ah thanks, you have me with a big smile, primarily because I wanted to bring drama to the seriousness of this piece and keep interest in what this piece is saying. Thanks for sharing your generous observation.
